SUZUKI OTSFF AND HINDLE LEAD THE WAY…RESPONSIBLY

Press release for Suzuki OTSFF
6/1/07

The Suzuki OTSFF team is not just focused on winning National Motocross Championships. Yes, number-one is job one, but they also strive to set an example for public responsibility and patriotism that stands above other Canadian teams. Part of this is embodied in their alliance with Hindle Performance Exhaust Systems, located right here in the Great White North.
Hindle has had a rep for making power since 1982, and is proving they can do it not only better but more quietly than the competition. “After Walton we had some great testing sessions, and proved that we made some really power producing pipes,” says Lee Hindle. “We signed the contract, and our first official race was the Montreal Supercross, which went really well. And this year, the season has already started off on a great note, with a three-class podium finish at Ste. Julie. We’re definitely getting noticed more in motocross because of the great exposure and results we are getting with Suzuki OTSFF.”
Suzuki OTSFF is a team that wants to win, and Hindle has been working to make sure they have the most competitive power package in the country.

Testing and improving products never ends, especially at the factory team level, and Hindle explains “Over the last few weeks we have been working with Suzuki. The works bikes have different engine specs than stockers, and require different pipes for optimum performance. We design off-the-shelf pipes for stock bikes, and even those are hard to beat, but with the works bikes we spend days experimenting with different configurations. We want maximum performance, and working with Jeff at PR2 who does their engines has really helped.”

Dyno testing, pipe bending, and computer simulations are one thing but making pipes the riders actually like requires track time as well. “We sent some pipes down to Tyler (Medaglia) when he was training in Georgia, since the 250F was all new for this year. We really wanted to get some pre-season seat of the pants testing in addition to our dyno work. We do dyno work first, but we definitely need rider input as well. Sometimes a certain pipe may perform better on the dyno, but the rider likes a different one for its power characteristics or track conditions. The track itself makes a big difference too. Gopher Dunes is so soft and sandy it requires a different pipe than a venue that is hard-packed. So we offer the race team pipes for different riders, different engine tuning, and different track conditions. The factory pipes meet pretty specific requirements, and though we make a pipe that is all-around good everywhere for the best pro-riders in Canada every little bit helps.”

Big power is one thing, but everyone agrees big noise is killing the sport. Suzuki OTSFF and Hindle have a strong social consciousness, and a love of the sport that puts them a step ahead in ‘quiet power’ development. “We are enforcing noise regs with every team we sponsor,” explains Hindle. “They are using noise reducers, and we are working on a new inner baffle to make them quieter yet. We’ve never had a problem making quiet mufflers; we just want to make one that doesn’t sacrifice performance. Quiet power is our priority, and personally I’d like to get them even quieter. All of our mufflers use the Stealth core, and we don’t even sell the louder ones anymore. And we have new versions that are even quieter that the teams will be testing after this weekend.”

So how does the factory team exhaust differ from one you can buy for your ‘Zook?
“There is no difference in actual construction or materials between the factory pipes and one you can buy off the shelf from us,” says Hindle. “We could easily put the works pipes into production, and if there was demand for a ‘racer’ replica pipe or a torque pipe or whatever we could do that.”

“We are excited to be on board with the Suzuki team, and with Suzuki Canada period,” Hindle says proudly. “Roadracing, Supermoto, Motocross…we are right there with all of them!” This season while you are touring the pits, watch and listen for the Hindle Performance Exhaust powered Suzuki OTSFF team. You will be impressed.
